This home exhibits elements of the influence of the emerging Arts and Crafts movement in its solid porch walls, extended eaves and square-ends rafters. Designed by architect Charles W. Buchanan (1852-1921) who came to Pasadena in the 1880's from Indianapolis and began his career here as a builder. He switched to architecture in the early 1890's and became one of the city's most successful architects.
